Yesterday (Tuesday, Jan. 3rd), as I was arriving at my MELT Method class (if you are curious about MELT, it is awesome check it out at www.meltmethod.com), I saw an rather large bird with reddish brown and white markings on the underside of his body fly overhead. It was flying low but still overhead and definitely seemed important to pay attention. Animals carry meaning and messages and can provide such amazing insights and wisdom if you are willing to LISTEN and simply PAY ATTENTION. Using the Merlin Bird identification app on my phone, I looked up the animal, knowing it was in the hawk family determined it was a Red-Tailed Hawk. The app stated that they were uncommon in my area, but was definitely possible for this area.
Right after, I watched this guy perch, I got a text message from a client (who is ok with me sharing this experience with you guys) who had just moved to a new house and her cat had ran out. Needless to say she was a bit frantic, as any loving pet parent would be. This was especially concerning, not just because it was the first day at the new house, but also because there was heavy traffic and loud construction going on at the house next door. I didn't really have time to fully tune in since my class was about to start, but I have worked with this particular client many times and have built an amazing wonderful rapport with her; so I was confident that I could reach her clearly and quickly. I set a strong intention that she be safe and after checking in with her, felt that she was safe but scared. I communicated with her that she needs to relax, go home, and that she could do so by following her Mom's energy. I let her know that this had caused her Mom upset and that she needed to let her know that she is safe. I also energetically sent the human a message to go outside. As soon as the owner went outside, the cat walked right up to her! Isn't that AMAZING! Both were truly relieved. I am so blessed to be able to be of service and to help both animals and people.
Ok, so now back to the gorgeous Red-Tailed Hawk and Hawk Energy. As I mentioned earlier, animals carry meaning and deliver messages. There are many resources on looking up animal spirit guide meanings, but my tried and true go to books are Animal Speak by Ted Andrews and Animal Spirit Guides by Dr. Steven Farmer. (If you don't have either of these books get them both!) I will be paraphrasing from these two books about Hawk energy, but these are definitely my sources. My personal association with Hawk, is perspective, clarity, vision, higher truth, sharpness, keen wit, and self sufficiency. I do always try to read my own intuition before consulting the books. The books reference step back and gain higher perspective, alert, focus, observe, and when time for decisiveness act quickly with intention and focus. "Pay attention to your surroundings, as you're about to receive an important message." (Farmer, Pocket Guide p.134). Hahahaha, well that one ended up being quite literal didn't it?
'Hawks are the messengers, the protectors, and the visionaries of the air' (Andrews). "This powerful bird can awaken visionary power and lead you to your life purpose." Well, to me this is so incredibly pertinent and truly and gracefully reinforced my the text message I got requesting my services. I do feel like this is an incredibly important role in my life purpose, and I am so wonderfully grateful to have the confirmation. What a blessing and a true gift. Thank you Divine Source!
According to Andrews, Red-Tail Hawk energy is especially symbolic as it ties into the kundalini, the seat of the primal life force. This is tied into the root chakra, but kundalini rises throughout all the chakras. Apparently, the red-tail hawk only becomes a totem in your life after the kundalini has been activated. Well, I know personally, I have been working with and exploring kundalini for a few years now; so I find this fascinating. This particular Hawk energy, may pop up when you begin to move toward your soul purpose more dramatically. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Can I get any more of a direct confirmation?! Well.... let's keep on reading shall we?
Andrews states to be aware that often hawks are picked on or even attacked by other birds. Be aware that other people might not understand you or the varied and different uses of your creativity. "They may attack your ability to soar." (pg. 154). Well, I have certainly had my fair share of being MISUNDERSTOOD and feeling like I was being ATTACKED and in many cases actually being attacked. So, how does one stay true to themselves and their purpose? Stay grounded and focused on TRUTH? These are definitely questions that I ask myself daily. I have flown so far off course, that I have felt lost for a long time. Today, I remember to seek higher perspectives, seek balance, and to be the highest expression of myself that I absolutely can be here and NOW. Andrews continues to provide much much more meaning and symbolism for Red-Tail Hawk, but I think I will end this here for now. Perhaps a followup post to come. Lots to ponder already. Such a beautiful confirmation, one for which I am truly grateful.
